Internship Opportunities: The Foundation works to help people interested in, and affected by prostate cancer through education and research. The Foundation is supported by the members of the Prostate Cancer Results Study Group, an international team of experts in the field of prostate cancer, a small team of volunteers and people just like you.

We have internship opportunities throughout the year for college students to turn recently acquired knowledge into real-world skills. Focus is in the areas of social media marketing, graphics design, website and video development. All of this development work is done while monitoring web traffic using tools like Google Adwords, Google Analytics and Youtube analytics, to learn what really works. Intern Position: Social Media

Interns will work directly with the Social Media Director building and maintaining social media sites that communicate the proven techniques and the latest information in the fight against prostate cancer. Interns will be responsible for periodic posts aimed at keeping existing subscribers engaged with the Prostate Cancer Free Foundation, assisting as we work to expand our audience. Key to the success of the internship will monthly reports on the current traffic and subscribers and the growth month to month.

The internship is unpaid, but will provide valuable experience with social media, great for those looking to expand their horizons and resume.

Time commitment:

10-15 hours per week for 6 months, which will begin upon acceptance.

Location:

Working directly from your computer or laptop. For those with a working internet connection, this is an remote position. Intern will communicate directly with the social media director via phone and email. Periodic meetings will be held to keep the team synchronized.

Responsibilities

• Help compile and develop social media posts based on specific guidelines
• Organize social media posts on content calendar
• Manage social media sites working to improve our web presence
• Assist with other projects as determined by Social Media Director
• Assist with moderating social media accounts, particularly Facebook

Requirements

• Organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills
• Access to a computer and knowledge of various social media technology
• Creative work with images, graphics, fonts, inline with the Foundation social media guidelines
• Ability to learn new things, work both independently and collaboratively, and follow deadlines
• Respond promptly to communications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Commitment to work of the Prostate Cancer Free Foundation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working remotely via remote computer platform
• Experience with variety of social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter, Google +, Pinterest, etc.
• Experience with technical and/or research writing
• Background or experience in cancer treatment, especially prostate cancer

Intern Position: Web Development

Interns will work directly with the Web Development Director maintaining the Prostate Cancer Free website. Work will include creation, modification and optimization of Web Site content aimed at driving new viewers to the Prostate Cancer Free Foundation as we work to expand our audience. Key to the success of the internship will be monitoring of Google Analytics to monitor the current traffic. The goal is to work toward continued growth of sessions, subscribers, patients comparing treatment and donations as measured month to month.

The internship is unpaid, but will provide valuable experience with social media, great for those looking to expand their horizons and resume.

Time commitment:

10-15 hours per week for 6 months, which will begin upon acceptance.

Location:

Working directly from your computer or laptop. For those with a working internet connection, this is an remote position. Intern will communicate directly with the Web Development Director via phone and email. Periodic meetings will be held to keep the team synchronized.

Responsibilities

• Utilizing WordPress and the Divi Template, develop and modify web content inline with the current website design guidelines
• Assist the team with design and development of new content expanding into new areas related to prostate cancer
• Utilizing Google Analytics, monitor website traffic, using the tool to understand what website content drives the most traffic
• Make recommendations to the web development team, and implement those changes to increase daily traffic
• Work with Yoast SEO to improve the site’s MetaData Ranking increasing organic traffic
• Assist with other projects as determined by Web Development Director
• Create monthly reports describing the improvements made to the Prostate Cancer Free website.

Requirements

• Understanding of WordPress, Themify’s Divi Template, Yoast SEO and other tools to monitor and correct web site optimization
• Creative work in design and implementation of Prostate Cancer Free Web Content
• Learn to breakdown the website weakness in performance, desktop, tablet and mobile platforms
• Ability to learn new things, work both independently and collaboratively, and follow deadlines
• Respond promptly to communications with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Access to a computer and knowledge of Google Analytics
• Commitment to work of the Prostate Cancer Free Foundation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working remotely via remote computer platform
• Experience with LINUX, Linux Commands, HTML and JavaScript
• Experience with variety of web site implementations, server configuration, website backup/restore, and website plugins
• Background or experience in cancer treatment, especially prostate cancer

Intern Position: Video Development

Interns will work directly with the Video Development Director to develop and maintain video content for the Prostate Cancer Free website and corresponding Youtube site. Work will include working with content experts in scripting, production, video capture, creation, editing, and posting of the final version to Youtube. Video creativity is encouraged, as long as the video follows the format guidelines established by the Foundation. Video content will be aimed at driving new viewers to the Prostate Cancer Free web site as we work to expand our audience. Key to the success of the internship will be monitoring of Youtube Analytics to monitor the current traffic. The goal is to work toward continued growth of sessions, subscribers, patients comparing treatment and donations as measured month to month.

Working directly from your computer or laptop. For those with a working internet connection, this is an remote position. Intern will communicate directly with the Video Development Director via phone and email. Periodic meetings will be held to keep the team synchronized.

Responsibilities

• Utilizing Video, Audio and Lighting equipment to develop new and replace existing web content inline with the current website/video design guidelines
• Using Final Cut Pro, edit the video captured, and integrate it with still pictures, audio, music, b-roll video, and Logos to create final Youtube Video.
• Assist the team with design and development of new content expanding into new areas related to prostate cancer
• Utilizing Youtube Analytics, monitor website traffic, using the tool to understand what website content drives the most traffic
• Make recommendations to the web/video development team, and implement those changes to increase daily traffic
• Work with YouTube Analytics and develop plans to increasing Youtube ranking and popularity
• Assist with other projects as determined by Video Development Director
• Create monthly reports describing view session and improvements made to the Prostate Cancer Free website, Youtube site.

Requirements

• Understanding of Video Equipment, Lighting, Microphones Sound and Green Screen capture techniques.
• Editing techniques using Final Cut Pro, to blend Green Screen video with backgrounds, audio, etc to create great videos.
• Creative work in scripting, production and implementation of Prostate Cancer Free Web Content
• Thumbnail creation to assist in the capturing the viewers attention on key subjects.
• Ability to learn new things, work both independently and collaboratively, and follow deadlines
• Respond promptly to communications with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Access to a computer and knowledge of video development software. YouTube, Vimeo, and Dropbox.
• Commitment to work of the Prostate Cancer Free Foundation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working remotely via remote computer platform
• Experience with Final Cut Pro, YouTube, Vimeo, and Dropbox.
• Experience with variety of web based video releases, with focus on increasing viewers.
• Background or experience in cancer treatment, especially prostate cancer

Intern Position: Google AdWords/Analytics

Interns will work directly with the Web Development Director maintaining both Google Adwords and Analytics accounts for the Prostate Cancer Free website. Work will include creation, modification and optimization of Google Adwords campaigns, ads and keyword aimed at driving new viewers to the Prostate Cancer Free Foundation as we work to expand our audience. Key to the success of the internship will be skilled use of Google Analytics to monitor and create monthly reports on the current traffic. The goal is to work toward continued growth of sessions, subscribers, patients comparing treatment and donations as measured month to month.

The internship is unpaid, but will provide valuable experience with social media, great for those looking to expand their horizons and resume.

Time commitment:

10-15 hours per week for 6 months, which will begin upon acceptance.

Location:

Working directly from your computer or laptop. For those with a working internet connection, this is an remote position. Intern will communicate directly with the Web Development Director via phone and email. Periodic meetings will be held to keep the team synchronized.

Responsibilities

• Utilizing Google Adwords, develop new ad campaigns inline with the current content of the website
• Utilizing Google Analytics, monitor website traffic, using the tool to understand what factors drive additional traffic
• Make recommendations to the web development team, and changes in Adwords Campaigns to increase daily traffic
• Assist with other projects as determined by Web Development Director
• Create weekly and monthly reports describing the traffic compared to the previous time period

Requirements

• Access to a computer and knowledge of Google AdWord and Analytics
• Creative work with keywords, ads and campaigns, inline with the Prostate Cancer Free Web Content
• Learn to breakdown traffic by Geography, Language, Device, Campaign and Ad Group
• Ability to learn new things, work both independently and collaboratively, and follow deadlines
• Respond promptly to communications with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Commitment to work of the Prostate Cancer Free Foundation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working remotely via remote computer platform
• Experience with variety of web site implementations, Google Analytics and Google AdWords
• Experience with data analysis and spreadsheets
• Background or experience in cancer treatment, especially prostate cancer

Intern Position: Marketing and Fundraising

Interns will work directly with the Development Director on building and maintaining strategies for overall brand recognition for the Prostate Cancer Free Foundation. This position will also include helping organize and execute community outreach programs. Interns will be responsible for helping to develop long term strategies for fundraising and communications with established and potential donors. Other duties may include carrying out misc. tasks and assignments assigned by the Development Director.

The internship is unpaid, but will provide valuable experience with basic marketing, great for those looking to expand their horizons and resume.

Time commitment:

10-15 hours per week for 6 months, which will begin upon acceptance.

Location:

Working directly from your computer or laptop. For those with a working internet connection, this is an remote position. Intern will communicate directly with the Web Development Director via phone and email. Periodic meetings will be held to keep the team synchronized.

Responsibilities

  •  Help compile and develop a strategy for fundraising for the next 12 months
  •  Help develop strategies for brand recognition
  •  Help organize outreach efforts
